In a statement this morning, MTA chairman Joseph J. Lhota said the subway system has experienced the most “devastating” flooding in its 108-year history, adding that MTA employees “have never faced a challenge like the one that confronts us now.” Despite a false rumor going around that transit would be back to normal in four days, the MTA has yet to provide an official timetable for repairs.
